Summer of Convertible Fun!!!

So the Dell Latitude XT Tablet PC arrived and its all setup. To my astonishment it came pre-loaded with Windows Vista Ultimate. Many of you know how much I despise Microsoft and know of my hopes of bringing a major class action lawsuit against them. Many of you know about my absolute dislike of Vista too. But in MS defense, the Vista Ultimate version is the best thing going for tablet PC's. My only criticism of Linux is it's lack of support for Tablet PC's.

Well as promised I am writing this from the tablet and in my backyard. Its about 4pm and the sun is shining. The DayTime display is working great. I can see the LCD screen fairly well and without straining. But its by no means a "sharp crystal clear" vies in outdoor conditions.

The machine is running very fast for having Vista on it and it's been very easy to setup and update. Having 2GB of RAM is probably the force behind it performance so if you get a convertible make sure you get at least that or better.

Besides using the pen the screen is also touch sensitive. Unless you are skilled at using the computer this may become an issue if you focus on the pen to do your work. On the other hand if you are a great typist expanding the size of the On Screen Keyboard may provide you with a touch surface to do your typing.

All in all I'd give this machine an overall rating of 9 out of 10 with the onlu drawback being the absence of an internal CD/DVD Burner. With that this machine could have easily been a 10.

Remember, the model Boulder PC choose would have cost about $2700 retail. However we paid right about $1600 for ours. We'd be happy to get one for you and get it all setup so that you too can experience the Summertime in a Convertible.

Have a great summer!! I'm off to the mountains!!!

It's Convertible Season!

There's nothing like a convertible in the summer time. The wind in your hair, the sun on your face. I positively love mine and take it out frequently. If you don't have one I highly recommend getting one. It's a modest investment for something so very enjoyable and freeing.

In the coming week I'll be test driving a performance convertible. I can't wait to put the top down and head out. It's going to be a fun few days driving that baby and I for one can't wait the 4 days until it's delivered!

I'll be reporting back on my experience with the Dell Latitude XT Tablet PC. Currently these tablets are retailing at up to $2700.00. Our test model was purchased for $1600.00 delivered.

Please check back for my review of the Dell Latitude XT. I'll be writing this blog on it next week from my back yard. See ya next week........

Advanced Backup and Recovery

Boulder PC has recently started using and recommending Acronis True Image Home. This is the single most important piece of software you should own. Not only can it backup your important data files, it can go to the next level and make a complete image of your hard drive.

Now most computer users may not recognize the importance of that statement so let me elaborate by painting a picture of disaster. Unfortunately the picture I am about to paint is probably all to familiar for many of you.

You go to bed one night having worked hard preparing files and creating documents and your computer was working fine. You wake up the next morning and there's a weird scratching and chunking noise coming from your machine. You're not positive but you fear the worst. Your hard drive has crashed.

For most people it's a total loss. Data Recovery is just to expensive and can take forever to complete. Once you weigh the cost of the data recovery process against the value of the data and slowly you come to accept that all is lost except for the few files you've saved to your external hard drive. The loss of all your iPod tunes and playlists, a few pictures you hadn't moved over to the external hard drive are gone and when was the last time you copied your Quicken datafile? Don't forget your favorites collection and email. If you used an email client like Thunderbird or Outlook then all your mail is gone.

But, using Acronis True Image Home and that external hard drive, this scenario of disaster can be avoided all together. Using Acronis True Image Home you'll be able to schedule regular backups of your entire hard drive including the ever so important Master Boot Record. If you perform regular full backups, when your hard drive does finally fail or when Windows dies (and it will happen someday), you'll be able to restore your hard drive and your files in as little as 30 minutes.

At Boulder PC we use this software every single day and so should you. We have implemented many backup routines tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients and we can setup your computer with this great protection right now.

You can buy a license for Acronis True Image Home directly from this website. Click the links in this blog or the banner below. Once you have your license give us a call and we'll setup your software and create a backup routine designed to insure you sleep well at night. If you have a high speed or broadband connection to the Internet we'll be able to do it all remotely for only $29.99.

Don't wait for Windows to fail! Don't wait for your hard drive to crash! It'll cost you dearly if you do. Get Acronis True Image Home NOW!

"Hacker Proof" Ubuntu

At the recent CanSecWest, sponsors of the conference offered up three laptops to attendees on one condition, if you hacked it you could have it. Over the next three days hackers made their attempts to break in and take control of the laptops. There was a MacBook Air running OSX, a Fujitsu running Windows Vista and a Sony Vaio running Ubuntu.

The first laptop to fall was the MacBook Air which was cracked in just 2 minutes exploiting a flaw in the Safari Web Browser. The hacker that crack the MacBook Air won the computer and a $10,000 cash prize.

Next to fall was the Fujitsu running Windows Vista. Under the relaxed rules allowing contestants to use any commonly found software already loaded on the laptop, the Vista machine fell through a previously unknown flaw in the Adobe Flash software. The hacker who discovered this flaw won the Fujitsu computer he cracked and a $5,000 cash prize.

The truly real winner at the conference was the Sony Vaio running Ubuntu. No one was able to crack this machine and take control of it, thus giving Ubuntu bragging rights as being "Hacker Proof".

With this said are you ready to make the leap to Ubuntu? Click here for more information about this free, secure and powerful operating system.
